Google News may be an underappreciated resource. Note in the text how far back the news archive goes. This resource may be an excellent place to use the timeline search option. The alerts feature could be useful in some situations, as well. In addition to going to the news site, http://news.google.com, try the Advanced News Search, http://news.google.com/news/advanced_news_search?pz=1&cf=all&ned=us&hl=en. Be sure also to try an archive research at http://news.google.com/archivesearch.

And, try the blend with Google Earth at http://google-latlong.blogspot.com/2008/05/extra-extra-now-you-can-discover-worlds.html, and read through the other Teacher Tips on page 159.
